Red Sox Claim AL East Title at Fenway

Friday night was a special night at Fenway Park. For the first time since 2009 the Red Sox assured themselves a spot in the playoffs by clinching the American League East  with a win over Toronto at home. It was a culmination of a year of  momentum in which we saw constant production from a team that avoided long slumps and relied on positive contributions from the whole roster. David Ortiz continues to hit at age 37.  Red Sox starters have a combined ERA of 3.29 heading into the final week of the regular season. Koji Uehara stepped into the closers role and has dominated with his  un-hittable splitter and delighted with his enthusiasm for the game. Dustin Pedroia continues to be Dustin Pedroia. Players like Daniel Nava and Mike Carp provided valuable and effective depth in the outfield, and Jonny Gomes may have provided that and more-a team chemistry, personality and attitude that we haven’t seen since the “Cowboy Up” Red Sox of 2004.

Here are a few of my favorites from Friday, with more images coming soon…
