Sox Front Office Volunteer for Hurricane Sandy Relief

I joined a group of Red Sox Front Office members last week on a trip to Union Beach, NJ to assist in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts as one of the final of the teams “100 Acts of Kindness.”  The devastation caused by Sandy has been well documented but it was still shocking to see the destruction first hand, and to meet people who’s lives have been inexplicably changed. One man, Bob Vaquez who is pictured with his family in the photo below, told us a harrowing story about having his house collapse around him and his wife and their subsequent struggle to reach safety. He later found me and asked me to shoot a family portrait in front of the devastation. He wanted me to share the image as a reminder that the recovery efforts on the Jersey Shore, and other areas affected by the hurricane, have have a long way to go.
